Julianne Hough’s Medical Challenges

Posted in: Cody Linley, Julianne Hough by John on October 28, 2008

I’ve been in touch with Marriann and she is doing well. You can imagine that she’s concerned about the health of Julianne and her other daughters. However, she seemed in good spirits. She hasn’t had much time to write about what’s going on or upload pictures with all that’s been going on (imagine that), but I thought it might be worth reposting some of what Julianne posted on her fancast blog.

Actually what happened is last week was more than just a tummy ache. Obviously. It turned out I ruptured a cyst that was on my ovary. I didn’t’ know but I have endometriosis. I’ve apparently had it for a long time because I’ve had this pain for about the last five years. It hasn’t been as bad. Up till last week, I let it go and I was always too busy to get it checked out. But because it happened when I was on set, they made me go to the doctor.

They want to clean out the cysts and take out my appendix, too, because later on it can be affected by the cysts. Endometriosis is a common thing for women. I was like “thanks mom for giving me my great life – and endometriosis.” I said that jokingly. My sister who has five children is going in for the same surgery in a couple weeks.

Julianne also wrote about a possible Hough versus Hough finale that I’m sure Marriann would also love to see. Can you imagine the joy of a mother if that happens?

A few people have written in to this blog about wanting a Hough vs. Hough final, and I think that would be great fun. I hope it happens! Brooke has been a frontrunner from the beginning, and I think Cody has shown what this show is about. We’ll see.

Finally, Julianne wrote about how much help her mom has been for her:

As for the next week or so, my mom is going to take good care of me. She’s been with me for almost a month. Something seems to happen every week where I need her to stay. She’s been awesome.

I visited with Shirley and her mother at the monday night show. Shirley and Corky Ballas were the coaches that Julianne and Derek lived with and trained in ballromm dance while they were in London.

I took Shirley to see Julianne’s dog, a Cavalier King. In London the Cavalier King was the Royal dog for the King and Queen.

Julianne was up late last night practicing for the results show for this coming Tuesday. She will be singing her new single and dance with Derek and Mark.

I am so excited! Alot of her family will be there to support her.

Julianne is a little anxious and excited, which goes to show that even though she is used to performing a lot, she still gets anxious and wants everything to go well. So don’t give up when things get hard or a little scary. If you are prepared you will not fear and it helps you get stronger for the next time.

I loved watching “The Never Ending Story” with my kids when they were young. In the movie it says “Be Confident!” Having a glimmer of light and hope is what keeps life exciting and worth living. A life of challenges, and lots of experiences.

Til the next time.

Still in LA – Julianne’s New CD

Posted in: Julianne Hough, Music by Marriann on October 14, 2008

I am still in L.A. This is the first minute I have had to actually get on Jules’[Julianne] computer. When she isn’t running around being totally busy and engaged she is on her computer or her black berry scheduling and finding out where she needs to be and when.

I have been helping Julianne. She is so busy. I help here keep here apartment clean, wash, and cook. Derek and Jules are really wanting to spend time with family and have quiet time dinners at the apartment.

Julianne’s latest CD Sounds of the Season: The Julianne Hough Holiday Collection, is now available exclusively at Target stores. Last night, I was lucky to have Jules sing me the songs from the new CD in a personal concert as we drove in the car.

Got to go. I’ll write more as soon as I can. Today I had a full day. I had to get Jules car windshield replaced, oil changed, Katherine’s brakes fixed, a visit to the vet and show up to the show tonight in between some washing. If I look haggered I am! ha! ha! Actually, I love what I am doing and I love being apart of it all and sharing with my kids. You love those you serve! And My kids are so kind to me. They tell me how much they appreciate what I do for them. For all you children, be grateful to your parents even though I know we are certainly not perfect, but a thank you goes a long way!

Did you see Derek’s Mom?

Posted in: Derek Hough by John on October 13, 2008

I apologize that we haven’t been able to post more lately. Marriann has been running back and forth to LA and so she hasn’t had much time or connectivity to be able to upload pictures to the site. We’re working to rectify the situation and get things posted more regularly.

In the meantime, in a game similar to Where’s Waldo, did anyone see Derek’s mom in the audience on tonight’s show? I’ll give you a hint, she was on camera multiple times.

Also, for those keeping score, last week Marriann was very excited about something on the show. If you guessed that it was Julianne and Derek dancing together, then you were right. Marriann was so happy to be able to see her son and daughter dancing together on the show.

Marriann (Julianne’s Mom) is in California for tonight’s Dancing with the Stars so she asked me to post a quick note from her experience last night.

Last night was a special event at Disneyland for Miley Cyrus’s Sweet 16 birthday party. Makes sense that Julianne would be invited since she’s dancing with Hannah Montana star Cody Linley. Julianne along with her mom, sister and her nieces and nephews and Cody attended the event. Marriann described how they got all dressed up in uncomfortable heels and headed to Disneyland in a limo. Sounds like they had quite the red carpet (although it was purple since it’s Miley Cyrus’s favorite color) experience with tons of fans asking for autographs.

They were able to go on the Indiana Jones ride as a family where Julianne told them they all had to scream really loud since that would make it more fun.

Marriann snapped a bunch of pictures from the event which we’ll be posting soon.

Marriann also said that tomorrow’s Dancing with the Stars includes something very exciting for her as a mother. Remember to vote tonight!

I’m sure that many Derek fans are interested in the status of Derek and his injury practicing for Dancing with the Stars. Brooke wrote her take on what happened on her blog. Marriann (Derek’s mom) is in California right now so she can be at tonight’s show and so I called her to get an update on Derek’s health.

Marriann told me that while Derek was practicing he fell back and hit some band equipment. She said he fell on his back and hurt his neck. Marriann was of course worried for her son, especially since this isn’t the first time that’s it’s happened.

Marriann does massage and so it’s a good thing she’s in California with Derek. She said she needs to get in there and do a good massage on his neck and back. Always the mother.

Last night Derek and the Hough family went to a thing at Disneyland for Miley Cyrus, but he wasn’t feeling very good and so he went home early.

The good news is that Marriann said he will be performing on tonight’s show.

Thanks for coming to my blog. I’m new at this, but I hope to be able to share a little different perspective on Julianne Hough than most people see. Here’s a few pictures of Julianne being Julianne and also Cody Linley, his mom and myself.

There’s Julianne’s being her funny self with the chop sticks. Usually they’re up her nose. She is so fun to be with and so normal and sweet. For real and I’m not just saying that because I am her mom.

Cody reminds me of Derek and my stepson AJ who is in the military. He is funny and dorky like Derek and A gentleman like AJ.

Cody has a mother who is very friendly. I hope to see her more often at the show. Julianne is trying to get Cody to be more focused. Julianne is trained to be focused. Julianne has been singing and dancing since she was three. Competing and traveling to Florida at eight and eating, living, and sleeping dance in London from when she was 10-15 years old. Julianne finished high school in the states on the high school dance team and played one of the funny girls in Beauty and The Beast at Las Vegas Acadamy.

Julianne knows about disipline.

I love sharing and may God bless everyone. Let us all find the good. Why? Because it feels better. I notice the difference’s in people, the variety, the talents, and I have opinions but I’m not really into putting people down.

Introduction to Pure Julianne Hough

Posted in: Julianne Hough by John on October 4, 2008

Glad you could stop by Pure Julianne Hough. As I posted in the previous post, we’re just getting started on this website covering Julianne Hough. It’s the beginning of what we believe will be a great experience for Julianne Hough’s mom to interact with Julianne’s fans and for Julianne’s mom to be able to share her experience and perspective on her daughter Julianne.

Who we are?
My name is John and through an interesting set of coincidences (and love of Dancing with the Stars), I was introduced to Julianne Hough’s mom Marriann Nelson. Marriann had this great desire to be able to share her story about Julianne and Derek Hough and I have quite a bit of background in creating websites and marketing them. Pure Julianne Hough and Pure Julianne Hough are the offspring of our meeting each other.

Yes, Marriann is the real mom of Julianne Hough.

The plan is for Marriann to do most of the writing about her children along with snapping plenty of pictures and possibly posting audio or videos of Julianne also. I’ll certainly be assisting Marriann and you may also find me writing a thing or to about Julianne Hough myself.

My guess is that if you’re reading this blog, then you know who Julianne Hough is quite well. However, for those less informed he’s a partial biography of some of Julianne Hough’s most significant accomplishments.

Julianne HOUGH

Julianne Hough (born July 20, 1988) is an American professional ballroom dancer turned country music singer. She is most-widely known for her repeated appearances on the ABC version of Dancing with the Stars, where she earned a Creative Arts Primetime Emmy nomination in 2007 for her choreography. Hough has won Dancing with the Stars twice with partners Apolo Anton Ohno and Helio Castroneves. She’s currently dancing with Cody Linley. ABC’s 20/20 has called her as one of the “very best dancers on the planet.”

Hough was signed to Mercury Nashville Records in December 2007. Her self-titled debut album was released May 20, 2008, debuting at #1 on the Billboard Country Album chart and #3 on the Billboard 200.

Hough joined Brad Paisley’s 2008 Tour, along with Jewel and Chuck Wicks. Hough, Paisley and Willie Nelson appear in the video for the Snoop Dogg song “My Medicine”.

She is currently in a commercial singing and dancing for Wrigley’s Juicyfruit.

We (mom and family of Derek Hough) love Shannon Elizabeth!

Here’s a picture of Derek Hough’s grandma with Shannon Elizabeth. I love Shannon’s tender heart. She is a sensitive person. She is an advocate for animals. In fact, she has a few dogs herself that she has saved from bad circumstances. Yes, she shows her emotions but hey, you know who she Really Is! And I love that about her.

There is a saying, “Be careful what devils ye cast out, lest ye cast out the best part.” The sensitive part of Shannon does alot of good. But when she is playing poker WATCH OUT!

Next, is a picture of Katherine Hough (Derek Hough’s sister), Rocky her boyfriend, Mark Ballas Jr. and Kristi Yamaguchi eating dinner at the Grove after the first show of this season’s Dancing with the Stars.

Everyone ate sushi but I ate veggies.

Katherine is actually my super funny daughter. Her boyfriend Rocky is not only easy on the eyes he will help you out in a pinch. Actually he is a stunt director. And for being a really tough guy Rocky is a teddy bear!

I love sharing and may God bless everyone. Let us all find the good. Why? Because it feels better. I notice the difference’s in people, the variety, the talents, and I have opinions but I’m not really into putting people down.

Thanks for coming by Pure Derek Hough! I’ll be posting more about Derek soon.
