Introduction to Pure Derek Hough
Posted in: Derek Hough by John on October 4, 2008
Glad you could stop by Pure Derek Hough. As I posted in the previous post, we’re just getting started with this website covering Derek Hough. It’s the beginning of what we believe will be a great experience for Derek Hough’s mom to interact with Derek’s fans and for Derek’s mom to be able to share her experience and perspective on her son Derek.
Who we are?
My name is John and through an interesting set of coincidences (and love of Dancing with the Stars), I was introduced to Derek Hough’s mom Marriann Nelson. Marriann had this great desire to be able to share her story about Derek and Julianne Hough and I have quite a bit of background in creating websites and marketing them. Pure Derek Hough and Pure Julianne Hough are the offspring of our meeting each other.
Yes, Marriann is the real mom of Derek Hough.
The plan is for Marriann to do most of the writing about her children along with snapping plenty of pictures and possibly audio or videos of Derek also. I’ll certainly be assisting Marriann and you may also find me writing a thing or to about Derek Hough myself.
My guess is that if you’re reading this blog, then you know who Derek Hough is quite well. However, for those less informed he’s a partial biography of some of Derek Hough’s most significant accomplishments.
DEREK HOUGH
Derek Hough (pronounced huff) (born May 17, 1985) is an American dancer and choreographer. A former world champion in Latin-American Dance, he appeared on Season 5 of the ABC television series, “Dancing with the Stars” with actress Jennie Garth (earning 4th place in the competition), and was eliminated during the 7th Week of Season 6, earning 6th place with actress Shannon Elizabeth (whom he’s dating as of the time of this writing). He has returned for Season 7, this time partnered with Brooke Burke. Hough has also been featured in the track Dreaming Under The Same Moon of his sister, Julianne Hough’s self-titled debut album.
Derek Hough and fellow Dancing with the Stars professional, Mark Ballas, started a band called “Almost Amy” in 2005.

Thanks for starting this! We adore and support Derek, and know that this is coming from the most loving place, his mother’s heart:)

What a great dancer/performer. He’s a charmer and the young ladies on our base just love Derek.
As a (in past life) dancer, I know how important it is to make the lady look good, and he certainly does that.
He and Julianne both are amazing, and many of our Marines have me keeping up with them while deployed in Iraq. Best of luck to both, and anxious to hear more about Derek’s band also.

I absolutely love both Julianne & Derek. They are my favorite dancers on DWTS, I love Julianne’s new album and I think they are both so talented in every way! I hope Julianne recovers quickly. I have a question–what scene in Harry Potter is it that Derek appeared in? I can’t seem to find it.
