A Little Christmas Giveaway

Posted in: Julianne Hough,Music by John on November 24, 2008

As I mentioned previously, we’re going to do a few little giveaways just in time for Christmas. Marriann will be giving away 2 autographed copies of Julianne’s recently released Holiday Collection CD. Here’s a short description of what’s found on the CD:

The Julianne Hough Holiday Collection, exclusively at Target stores includes: “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Feliz Navidad,” “It Wasn’t His Child/Mary Did You Know,” “Santa Baby,” “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” among others.

If you’re interested in winning one of these CDs, leave a comment on this post. We’ll be giving one of the CDs to a randomly selected comment. The second CD will go to the comment which we like the most. Basically just wow us with something special. Surprise us!

As usual, any comments which are offensive, inappropriate, in bad taste, or we don’t like will be removed. Make sure you use your actual email when filling out your comment. We’ll be using that email to contact the winners. Please do not enter your email in the main comment section unless you want everyone (including spam bots) to see it.

We’ll be ending the contest at the beginning of December in order to get you the CDs in time for the Holidays.

Finally, remember to vote for Derek and Brooke tonight!!

  1. YAY for Brooke & Derek! They did GREAT!! Tell Derek he seems to be a master of choreography….you can tell how serious he’s takes the judges comments. And YAY for Julianne! – Great as always! And keeping very busy! That’s awesome! There is definitely lots to be thankful for! Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

  2. I had first heard of Julianne on DWTS, and when I heard that she was going to be crossing over into country music, I was really interested! I was raised on that type of music, and it’s one of my favorites to listen to. I followed her over from dancing to singing, and I think she’s doing so great! I am such a fan! Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you guys have a wonderful holiday.

  3. Derek and Brooke were amazing tonight on Dancing With The Stars, I completely agree with Len, best free style ever (I loved the whole Grease vibe), but Julianne’s and Apolo’s comes pretty close! Go Brooke and Derek – going to take home the trophy. I was so excited when I heard Julianne was going to have a CD. When I heard her first single Will You Dance With Me it really moved me and I fell in love with her singing. It has since become one of the songs I listen to before one of my basketball games. As she continued to make more songs, they just pulled me in; I listen to My Hallelujah Song (it reminds me to give thanks to God for all the opportunities I am given everyday), That Song In My Head (that is one of the songs that brings back many summer memories), and Dreaming Under The Same Moon (I love the harmonies Derek and Julianne create together)almost everyday. I recently heard two of Julianne’s Christmas songs (Feliz Navidad and Jingle Bell Rock) on youtube and I thought they were amazing. I can’t get over what an incredibly diverse artist she is. I have introduced a few of my aunts to her singing and they have loved it as well. Lastly, I am 14 (15 in December)and Julianne is one of the few people outside of my family that actually provides a good example to look up to. Congratulations to all the success Derek and Julianne have had in the past year and through out their lives.

  4. Julianne, I’m a fan, send me your cd if you can!

  5. Julianne is such an amazing singer, she has inspired me so much over the last year to just keep reaching for my dreams and break into country music and getting back into dancing.

    And Derek and Brooke won tonight. There is do doubt they picked up the trophy. Yaye Brooke and Derek!

    Comment by Holly — November 24, 2008 @ 10:15 pm

  6. Ah, where to start? I have to say I always enjoyed seeing Julianne on DWTS, and she’ll be missed when she leaves, but I’m sure she’ll do great as a singer.
    Go Julianne!

    ps Derek and Brooke are sure to win! I casted my vote. I had to agree with Len, how it was the best freestyle dance I ever saw on DWTS! Awesome!

    Comment by Christina — November 25, 2008 @ 12:31 am

  7. I never watched DWTS before Julianne was on. Even the season she started I didn’t watch. One night while my best friend and I were visiting my parents my mom was like, “Girls, you HAVE to watch this girl. She is only 18!” To make my mom happy we sat down and watched Julianne for the first time ever. It happened to be the now famous Blue ChaChaCha with. At the end my mom looked at my friend and I and laughed as both of us had our mouths open in ahhh. I fell in love with Julianne’s dancing that night. I stayed up to watch every youtube video I could find on this talented girl. I now watch DWTS regularly and am quite obessessed, haha.

    I got to return the favor and introduce my mom to Julianne’s music though. Down the road when Julianne released her debut album of course I went straight out and bought it. Man what a voice she has. Everyone I talked to, including my Matalica loving brother, loved her new CD. However, my mom hadn’t bought it yet. I know right, what was she thinking? Well, she just doesn’t listen to CD’s all that much so she figured she could do with out; until she had to drive to Texas after Hurricane Ike hit to help out. It was a 14 hour drive so she finally purchased Julianne’s CD so it would keep her occupied while driving. Just a couple minutes into the trip my mom called me at work and said, “This CD is soooo good. She can sing better than she can dance, if that is possible. Why didn’t I buy this earlier?” I laughed and for an hour we talked about how amazingly talented Juliane is!

    That is my abbreviated story about how two people discovered the talents of Ms. Julianne Hough. Even if I don’t win it was nice to share! MERRY CHRISTMAS!

  8. I became a fan of Julianne during her first season of DWTS. Her beauty and talent just stands out. And then Derek came along and now they are both my favorite pro dancers. Of course, I fell in love with Julianne’s country album, as did my 3 year old twins. They know most of the songs by heart and sing them wherever we go in our car. I’m going to share a little story that you might find cute…. They are in a preschool class and they started practicing for their Christmas concert last week. When I went to pick them up their teacher told me that when she went around the room to ask which song they wanted to sing for Christmas, my 3 year old girl shouted “Julianne Hough”. The teacher didn’t know Juliannes music, but knew it must be a favorite in my house so she wanted to tell me the story.

    Anyways, I think Julianne and Derek are the most talented individuals we’ve come across in entertainment in some time. Sometimes life can be tough, but no matter what the day brings, they always can put a smile on my face and help me to carry on. It is truly a joy to watch and listen to their talent!

    And YES, I definately did vote. Derek and Brooke rocked the house last night!!! My fingers are crossed for tonight’s champion!!

    Comment by Jacquie Gage — November 25, 2008 @ 5:48 am

  9. Derek and Brooke rocked it last night! I thought they had the best freestyle ever! I couldn’t believe they used “Grease”, because that’s one of my favorite movies ever. I hope they win!

    Julianne is an awesome singer! I missed the show she sang on originally, but I taped it. My Dad told me that she was better than Aretha Franklin, and i didn’t believe him. I mean, I didn’t think that was possible! Sure enough, she did better than Aretha, and everyone else that sang! I hope to get her self-titled CD for Christmas.

    Comment by Brittany — November 25, 2008 @ 6:18 am

  10. To say both Julianne and Derek are extraordinary talented dancers AND singers would be an understatement. It’s an understatement because not only are they talented but their beauty is skin deep–they are amazing people. I’m 15 and have been going through a lot lately. My family is struggling financially, I just lost my grandmother, both of my parents are working multiple jobs, and the pressure has never been tougher at school. What gets me through? Monday and Tuesday nights, in addition to constant plays of Julianne’s CD and Derek’s band Almost Amy. You can always be a dancer, and be the most amazing one at that, but “Your talent will get you in the door, but your character will keep you in the room”. Every time I see Julianne or Derek dance I not only see their breathtaking talent, but their passion for life and love. When everything else is gone, I included, have to remember to live for love. Seeing them always puts a smile (and most of the time laughter) on my face. DWTS is such a good way to start off the week, and the show has brought my family closer together. Somedays, I only see my parents when I leave for school in the morning, and then late at night when I go to bed. DWTS, seeing Julianne and Derek, has been a getaway. One of the things I admire most about Julianne is her confidence, which is something I struggle with. She is not only truly confident in herself as a dancer, SINGER, and individual, but also in what she believes in. That is something I strive for. Julianne is such a great role model for girls my age. If you ask my friends, they would say I am a DWTS Fanatic. Now that I’m taking ballroom, it has gotten worse haha! I hope that Julianne and Derek know what a joy they are to watch, and that they have gotten me through some really tough times. They are the kind of people we need more of. Mariann- I hope that I become a mom like you and can raise kids to the standard that you have. They are amazing. It would be an honor to receive Julianne’s CD for Christmas. Her devotion and passion to ballroom dance is something I strive to have one day. And just for your knowledge— I voted for Brooke & Derek 155 times last night. They are more deserving than anyone.. and that freestyle was SPECTACULAR!

    Love, Caroline

  11. The Houghs are the best thing that has happened to DWTS. I can’t imagine the show w/o them. I’m so glad both Julianne and Derek are finding success in music. But I hope they never stop dancing though. They are truly magical to watch.

  12. I voted for Brooke and Derek alot last night, I used 4 diff. phone lines lol.
    I love Julianne’s debut c.d., I listen to it everyday on the way to school!!
    Thanks for always keeping us updated on Derek and Julianne, I really appriciate it :)

  13. I just wanted to say how wonderful I think your kids are! Granted, I only “know” them through TV-land, but what I’ve seen from them as individuals and together has been beautiful… and has had a HUGE impact on our family.

    My husband and I are proud parents to our own little towhead, a boy, and have been debating for the past year on whether we wanted to add another to the brood. (Five kids, how did you do it!?) My husband has been “all in” for awhile now and my son has been lobbying for a little sister (whom he calls JULES!) for months. I, however, was having some serious doubts — I love my solo time with my son!

    Over the past year, I saw a several interviews/interactions between Derek and Julianne. Seeing them together, seeing how much fun they have together, dancing, laughing, just goofing around, made me realize how amazing it would be for my little man to have a little sister (or brother) of his own. It’s very obvious that Derek and Julianne are super-close, and seeing that chemistry put it all together for me. I keep thinking about how wonderful it would be to have that kind of dynamic in the family.

    So, from TV-land to reality. I’m now 11 weeks pregnant! Thanks for the inspiration! :)

  14. Christmas has always been my favorite holiday since I was a little girl; my parents always refer to me as their early Christmas present since I was born just 9 days before. I play Christmas music all year long and whenever I hear Christmas music it fills my heart with joy. Julianne is such an amazing person, dancer, and singer. As a young teenager I look up to the example she sets and her passion for all that she does. The first season I started watching Dancing With The Stars was Julianne’s first season on. From the first day I started watching I could the amazing talent Julianne had and even the ability she was able to bring out in Apolo. The following season I was so excited when I found out another Hough would be coming to the show. Derek’s talent has amazed me just as Julianne’s has. His Jive with her was out of this world and his dancing with Brooke all season has brilliant. I just started high school this year and normaly the last thing I would be looking forward to is a Monday; but when Dancing With The Stars is on I can’t wait till Mondays and Tuesdays. When I heard Julianne had a Christmas CD coming out I was so excited, but knew their was no way my parents could afford to buy it for me since they are worried about where the money to pay the bills is coming from, I even had to pay them myself once or twice with the money I earned from reffing soccer. Her past music has been amazing; both inspiring and music you can just relax and have a good time with. The lyrics from Will You Dance With Me “Oh I’m a dreamer, though my head is in the clouds I keep believin’, they really do come true, rainbow chaser” always stick out in my mind because I have huge dreams for my life and I am sometimes told they are not possible and this always reminds me that they are. Good luck to Brooke and Derek and have a Merry Christmas.
    Love Kelsey

  15. I’ll be waiting on pins and needles to see how my favorite “Grease” couple end up tonight, suffice it to say I did my part, honey! It was awesome to see them spice up the rice with their rendition of “you’re the one that I want.” Zatarain’s ain’t got nothing on “Derooke” (my pet name for my favorite dancing couple). I’m just so proud of Julianne, endometriosis is not an easy thing. I have so many friends who suffer the intollerable pain and fears associated with it. I pray for your daughter, I pray for your son, I pray for you, may you continue to be a strength to them as they go forth. I love the blog.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  17. Hey Julianne,

    Sorry my health wouldn’t let me use all 53 of my emails. I’m going to miss seeing you dance.

    Continue to get well. And if by some miracle I get to meet you, I hope my shyness won’t blow it for me. Come sing in Canada, in Ontario perhaps, I need something to do and somewhere to go. :) I’ll find some money to get tickets and someone to get my gimp self there.

    Oh yeah, how about the rest of your songs explanations.

    Cheers, Kiddo!!

    Also, thanks Marrianne for returning an email i sent you back in Sept 2007 praising juliannes incredible attributes.

    Shame shes not on Strictly Come Dancing, she’d be huge in the UK !!

  22. I would just like to take a moment to wish the entire Hough family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! You both did great this year on DWTS and with all the other things you accomplished this year. You are 2 great examples that if you work hard and have extreme determination you can make anything happen. I am proud to call myself a fan of you both and I am looking forward to seeing what you do next! Good Luck to you in whatever comes your way in the future. You deserve it! Congrats to Derek on last night’s victory!

  23. I am 43 y-o;
    I love to watch DWTS;
    I love both Julianne and Derek; for their dance and their music;
    I am waiting for Derek and Mark’s album;
    I have a 12 y-o son and a 7 y-o daughter;
    They actually trade in their PRECIOUS game playing time to watch DWTS!
    I live in NYC, I know there are many (too many to choose) dancing studios. But I can’t decide which one to send my daughter and my son to. My daughter loves ( I mean LOVE) to dance, she is very flexible and musical. But all the schools I sent her to seems to elementary for her and very slow paced. She constantly complaines that she couldn’t learn enough. Can you suggest me a good place in NYC for them to go? Can you ask Julianne or Derek? I know this might be too much to ask, but I have hope in mom, always.
    Thank you and congratulations on Derek’s hugh win last night!

  24. Hooray for Derek and Brook, they truely deserved to win this season. The look on Dereks face was priceless, he was so shocked. That kind of humbleness will serve him well. And i have been a fan of Juliannes since she first showed up on “Dancing with the Stars”. I know she is ready to get on with her music career, but that show will lose some serious talent if she decides to leave. I know she is young and she wants to get on with her life, but she has such a fanbase on that show, that with out her or Derek it would not be the same.

    Comment by Neal — November 26, 2008 @ 6:01 pm

  25. I thought it was really cool when I came across this web site for the fans of Derek and Julianne Hough created by their mom. Marriann must be extremely PROUD of her two children. In fact, from the little I have seen on TV and on the internet of her other children, she must be extremely PROUD of not only these two, but of ALL of them.

    Marriann is living EVERY parent’s dream. Her children have succussfully accomplished more at such a young age than most have accomplished in their entire lifetime. Marriann and her family are very blessed!

    Derek has won Dancing With The Stars once and Julianne has won twice. Derek and Julianne have both signed contracts with major record labels. Julianne has two CD’s out that are very enjoyable to listen to. I am looking forward to the upcoming CD that Derek’s band, Almost Amy, is about to put out in the near future.

    Derek and Julianne are two of the best dancers I have seen in my lifetime. It is a special thrill when the two of them get to choreograph and perform a dance together. But mostly, I LOVE to hear them SING! I especially enjoy the song “Dreaming Under The Same Moon” which features the vocal talents of both Derek and Julianne.

    After Julianne’s self-titled CD was released in May and it was announced that she was going to be part of the Brad Paisley tour, I was very excited to get tickets for the two dates when Julianne was to be in Minnesota. Unfortunately, due to Dancing With The Stars, Julianne was unable to perform at both of the Minnesota venues. So when it was announced that Julianne was doing the shows with Brad Paisley over Labor Day weekend, even though all the other shows were cancelled due to Dancing With The Stars, my desire to hear Julianne sing live on stage was so strong that I actually flew all the way to Philadelphia to experience her show. Julianne gave an OUTSTANDING performance which was well worth the money spent. Actually, mostly due to air fare, I spent more money to see Julianne in concert than any concert I had ever been to before. And I have had prime seats to see acts such as Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, The Eagles, Aerosmith, Van Halen, and Bob Seger. I guess what I am trying to say is Julianne’s talents are PRICELESS and I am glad I was able to witness some of it in a live setting.

    I wish it was possible for Derek and Julianne to do both “Dancing With The Stars” AND make their beautiful music with corresponding nationwide concert tours. What a dilemma, to have so much talent that there is not enough time in their daily lives to showcase it all.

    Thank you so much Marriann for doing your part in raising such wonderful, talented children.

  26. I just love Dancing w/the Stars and Derek & Julianne. I am awed at the fact how well they dance and what an inspiration to others. My 6 yr old daughter takes dancing lessons and hopes to dance like Julianne and Derek one day! I would love a copy of her CD too.

    Dance Away Derek & Julianne! What an awesome job! Your both great teachers. !!

    “Greetings from Canada!”

    Thank you for sharing all of these blogs with us! I enjoyed my first visit to your website & I have bookmarked it & I will visit again. To begin…I can see where Julianne gets her beauty & good sense of humor from…YOU! I LOVED reading about how you are her #1 fan!!! It is so beautiful to see a parent who is so proud of ALL of her children. Thanks again for sharing your stories with us…I really enjoyed reading them!

    In the spirit of Christmas (which is soon approaching)…I would like to share with you this Christmas quote that I really love. I love it because it is what comes to mind when I think of your family. Enjoy…

  31. Just would like to say that the Hough siblings are all talented in their own ways based on Derek and Julianne’s statements that all the children + the Mom Mariann were performing when the kids were growing up. Now, Julianne and Derek have proven they are dance champions and are also getting successful in their singing careers. I didn’t like country music before but I ended up buying all of Julianne’s music albums plus the first 2 singles via Itunes and had been listening to them often. Just waiting for Derek’s album (AlmostAmy/BallasHough band) to be released then I’m planning to buy it too. You are blessed, Mariann, to have multi-talented children.

    You’re right that Marriann is very talented like her children. Artist, dancer, massage therapist, etc etc etc.

  33. I’ll make my comment short and sweet like Julianne :) I’m so glad Derek won! I definitely split my votes between Derek and Julianne the whole season! Christmas is such a special time of year so I’m pumped Julianne put out a Christmas album! Many wishes this holiday season to everyone and much more success to the entire Hough family!

  34. Hi Mariann. I’m not quite sure what to say in this comment to really ‘wow’ you, but I figured this was a good of time as any to try to tell you how much your daughter means to so many people. I, like many others, first saw her on season four of the show. I can still remember the first time, dancing with the pros in her green dress, with the guys tossing her up in the air like a little cheerleader! It’s so funny to think that girl with the big personality who snorted on tv is the same Julianne that’s now living her dreams in Nashville. My mother and I, much like you and Julianne, are quite close and I can see how much love you have for your daughter and how proud of her you really are. It’s nice to see a family bond so close, especially since that doesn’t seem to exist anymore in the ‘celebrity world’. Anyway, I’m a huge fan of Julianne’s music, her dancing, and hopefully someday her acting! No matter what, she will always be an inspiration to me, personally. She’s brought light to my life – as I’m sure she does to you on a daily basis – and I’m proud to call myself a fan of hers. Whether she’s quickstepping on the dance floor in hanging out in Nashville and living her passion, I’m going to follow her career 110%. Thank you, Mariann, for raising such a beautiful little angel. You’ll never really know how many lives she’s touched but now you know of one at least. <3

You can tell that they are great siblings who honestly care for and about each other and their family. How refreshing it has been and a treat and pleasure to watch these two dancing up a storm. 37. Hello Marriann! My name is Paula, and I am 20 years old (just like Julianne!) and I live on the east coast. I have been watching dancing with the stars since season one and it is my FAVORITE SHOW! When Julianne danced in her first season with Apolo it was so much fun to watch. I connected with her right away and couldn’t believe how amazing she was. I voted for her hundreds and hundreds of times when she danced with all of her partners…Apolo, Helio, Adam, and Cody. I use my cell phone as well as my 4 other family members cell phones and then I use my house phone. I always make sure I vote until my limit is up, and I am telling you…sometimes that takes hours :) I then proceed to log on to my numerous accounts to vote on I ALWAYS vote for Julianne…I think it’s because I feel like I am just like her in so many ways (except I can’t sing or dance =D). I was so excited when she won her first two seasons and was SO upset and bummed when she got voted out the last two times. When she was eliminated I immediately switched my votes to Derek because he is such an amazing dancer as well and I love how close him and Julianne seem to be. I consider myself to be a HUGE Dancing with the Stars fan, but I guess I am really just a HUGE HOUGH fan because I know so much about both of them and I don’t know how I could watch without Julianne and Derek on the show. I visit your website on a daily basis as well as julianne’s website and derek’s myspace as well as the ballashoughband site…I know, it’s a little obsessive but it always gives me that little extra boost to try that much harder at whatever I do. Definately keeps me going. You raised amazing kids, and I think that Julianne and Derek are such amazing people and I admire them both for so many reasons. I love what you are doing with the website, I enjoy visiting it to see updates.

    Thanks so much and Happy Holidays!

  40. On the utube Barrymore video of 2B1G, he said “these kids are going to the top”, and DWTS has been a great vehicle to bring their talents into the limelight to millions of people. I love Julianne and Derek’s dancing and choreographing abilities, “Great Balls of Fire” was phenomenal. I am glad that they both are reaching for their stars, as I know how much they want to sing professionally. I wish that Derek and Julianne would also sing together professionally, their sound together is so good. I would love Julianne’s CD. They both are inspirational.
