I am Julianne’s #1 fan! No Doubt about it! Who am I? I am Julianne’s real mom. The biological and genetic mother. The one who used to wipe her nose and change her diapers. I’m the one who used to take Julianne and her siblings to dance lessons. I also took the kids to karate, music, singing, Spanish, art lessons, and many other things. I mainly lived in a van, even though we had a house. My life revolved around my children.

So what is my name? Marriann Nelson. But I have been called many other names (some good … some not so good). When Julianne was born my name was Marriann Hough (I was married to her dad, my ex-husband Bruce Hough). I have since remarried. But I have never stopped loving my children. Now my name is Marriann Nelson. Oh, and before I got married the first time, I was Marriann Heaton.

So what qualifies me to be the number 1 fan?

Did all the fans get together and vote me as the number fan?

No!

Did they pull my name out of a hat?

Not Hardly!

Did all of the experts and judges get together to pick a #1 fan?

No Way!

I decided all on my own that I’m Julianne’s # 1 fan.

However, I did have a few criteria to help me select the #1 fan. The criteria I used were as follows:

Who has known her the longest? (Well frankly I was there when she was conceived.)

Now honestly, my ex could be in the running based on this criteria… but there are more…

Who has carried Julianne in their tummy (for a day … let alone nine months and 14 days and 2 hours and 15 minutes and 23 seconds (can we get this kid out?.)
She obviously enjoyed her stay … she didn’t want to vacate the premises! So the doctor pulled her out and gave her, her first spankin’… As best I can figure … I win this criteria hands down (or is that legs up!) Where was the epidural when I needed it?

Who nursed Julianne as an infant?
Once again …. Only me! I think I’m in the lead! Now you might be thinking that I am stacking the cards in my favor … and quite frankly ….I AM!

Who carpooled her the most? (Shirley and Corky Ballas would probably be in #2 place for carpooling in London.)

Who has been her fan the longest?

Who made it possible to eat out of garbage cans? (This is an inside joke!)

Who let her go to London, and also continued to support her rather than try to split the baby?

Who packed up in one day, flew to London thinking I would live there for a year to help Julianne and be with Derek, leaving virtually everything behind?

Who cried many nights and days because she was far away in London (or some where else in the world?)

Again …..ME! … ME!… ME!… ME!….ME!

There are many other criteria for the #1 fan … but I won’t bore you with the details for now.

Well you probably can figure out why I know I am Julianne’s # 1 fan.
I’m her mother and I should be!

I am also each of my other children’s (real and blended) #1 fan. And for each of them I have my unique reasons for being the #1 fan of each child. I am also the # 1 fan to myself and to my husband and my dog, Shiba!

Honestly, I am grateful for every person who has ever been a fan to any of the family or to anyone who needed someone to cheer for them or who has ever offered an encouraging word or helped in any way.

To all the other fans (# 2 to whatever number you are) …. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT !!!!!!!!!

   You can be sure that we’ll be giving away autographed pictures of Julianne among other things in contests and also as part of the Julianne Hough fan club we’re working to create.

    I think we should be thankful that Marianne is willing to take the time and share any information about Derek and Julianne. She doesn’t have to do this at all. I appreciate anything she wants to share including her own goings on.

    Loved “Dancing With The Stars”, Julianne & Derek’s Mother is very beautiful. I am giving Sounds of the Season to my teenage Granddaughters for a pre-Christmas gift along with their Thanksgiving Family Celebration.
    Hope Derek & Julianne will have occasion to dance together again before “Dancing With The Stars” signs off for the season. Jo Ann
